Wayward Independence

My spirit is free, it springs forth like a cat
Her instinct is so natural and graceful
We learn to hesitate
We learn to fear and fall
We learn to sit on the doormat of life
Imprisoned by recall
Watching little wings flicker about
no one can rule us but ourselves
We live in doubt, and fail to shout it out
